What was India before the British ruled us?
India was referred to as “Soney ki chidiya,” a Hindi term which means (Golden Bird).
Many countries used to travel to India for trade as it was the biggest importer of spices in the world during those times.
India was also the biggest producer of raw materials like tea, jute, cotton, indigo, and coffee.
India was one of the flourished and rich country in the world which caught the eyes of many empires who wanted to loot Indian of its treasures.
Even the world’s biggest diamond called the “Kohinoor” belonged to India, which was later stolen and used in the throne of the Queen.
How did British ruled India?
Seeing the richness of India, the Britishers wanted it for themselves.
They came to India disguised as traders under the banner of East India Company.
And slowly, they started increasing their military presence with their real intentions of looting.
It was the victory in the Battle of Plassey, the rule of East India Company began defeating the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj-ud-daula.
The British Empire then started taking control of the territory until it took over the rule of the entire country.
Their rule went on for almost two-century until 15-August-1947 when we successfully achieved our Independence from the British rule.
How did India gain Independence from the Britishers?
It was the peak of the British rule tyranny that started the fire of freedom in the heart of common people.
The British Empire and its officials used to mock and humiliate the culture and traditions of the Indians.
Hurting their religious sentiments and treating them as slaves and putting illegal taxes to make the common people suffer.
The Revolt of 1857 which was unsuccessful but it marked the beginning of a number of protest and movement.
